Sanders Slams Closed Process, Rift With Top Democrats Widens

Bernie Sanders stepped up his feud with Democratic leadership, saying
he’s backing the primary opponent of Representative Debbie Wasserman
Schultz, the party’s national committee chairwoman, and taking on an
“undemocratic” nominating process.

“Clearly, I favor her opponent. His views are much closer to mine than
Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s,” the Vermont senator said in an interview
with CNN on Sunday. Sanders added he wouldn’t reappoint the
congresswoman to head the committee if he’s elected president in
November.

Positions between the sides have changed somewhat. Today,
"conservatives" are more identified with social conservatism
especially as Republicans have become less fiscally responsible.

Traditional fiscal and economic conservatives are taking a second look
at Democrats these days. Not a lot of them, but some.

Liberals are just confused. The Dems are still socially liberal but
more and more are siding with Business on economic issues.

In another half century, Republicans are going to be thought of as the
hog wild spenders whose monetary irresponsibility is going to destroy
the country while Dems are going to be in the pocket of every employer
with more than a dozen employees. heheh

ISIS was created by Iraqi Sunnis chased out of the country by Bush's
invasion and post invasion mismanagement. The Sunni commanders who
wouldn't be quelled with cash were forced to flee the country. They
went to Syria, helped destabilize the country and then started taking
over as many rebel groups as they could.

he has droned key militant leadership in Pakistan...
His actions are confusing to say the least.
Why are you confused? He seems consistent to me.
What do you two think he should have done WRT ISIS?
Listened to military leadership and not pulled out of Iraq for one..
And done what instead? Keep shooting/bombing people to foster the
overwhelming pro-American sentiment every Iraqi was feeling at the time?
Iraq was getting better... Even Biden was calling it a success.....
Which by that time had nothing to do with ISIS.
Because Iraq was already calming down.... It is fascinating to me watching
the admin
taking credit for a peaceful Iraq, then they let it go to shit, and then say
it is all Bushs fault.

Then keep the military there and collect taxes and own the oil. It's

His suggestion is absolutely hysterical. If Iraq were a state, then all
Iraqis would be Americans and could freely travel into the rest of the
country and all over the country, with no need for any immigration
controls because they're citizens.

I mean, seriously, this brainwashing brain damage is so very serious.

NO it would mean that under Obama they would finally have to go through
the TSA lines and immigration, because up until now Obama has been
waiving all the Muslims past those checkpoints. It would also mean that
The NSA would listen to their phone calls like they listen to mine.

I see it as only positive, when they come to the U.S. they don't have to
sneak across the border. And we don't have to accept undocumented
refugees (terrorists) to prove we aren't racists. We get the oil. We
have a military base in the Middle East that the Muslims can't throw us
out of. We built all their schools already. We fixed the electric and
the roads there. NOT much would change would it? They'd get some
congressmen and senators and have to pay income tax to the IRS.

Such an idea wouldn't even be legal and if it was it *still* wouldn't
work. For a diplomat to claim immunity, he must be *accredited* as a
diplomat by the country he's assigned in. Do you really think Maliki
was going to give blanket diplomatic immunity to 50,000 us troops.

Not to mention, the whole problem was we wanted immunity for our

You're stuck in a conflict think nearly a century old. Germany and
Japan were vanquished foes in a clear war between nation states. Those
rules don't apply here. Our soldiers aren't being shot down in the
streets by snipers or being killed and maimed by roadside IEDs.

Nothing dumber than a conservative hawk who doesn't even have the

"An obvious fix for troop immunity is to put them all on the diplomatic

Why don't you provide some credible sources for your nonsense? Oh right,
other than anonymous sources "quoted" by reporters with histories of ethical
problems, they don't exist.

Still waiting for some backup for your "the top generals all said" bullshit

It really amazes me how willing so many of you wingnuts are to twist
yourselves into meta-pretzels just to avoid having to acknowledge
well-documented history, without the slightest idea just how ridiculously
obvious it is to everyone else.

That and your collective propensity for gay sex references. You people

Bullshit. Complete, unadulterated bullshit. Generals aren't diplomats

high level State treaty. Baghdad was being run by Iran and Iran

It was obvious Obama wanted out...
It wasn't only Obama. It was the voters who threw the GOP out of
Congress in 2006 to punish Bush for the pre war lies and mistakes that
finally came to light in 2005 after his re-election.

It was Bush as well who, in case you've forgotten, was the guy who set
the withdrawal timetable because he, also, was unable to negotiate
immunity from prosecution for American military personnel in Iraq.
Post by DoD
He got out and gave ISIS another path for
expansion. Obama
snatched Bush's victory and turned it into defeat...
There wouldn't have been any ISIS but for Bush's stupid decisions and
gross mismanagement.

Stop whining because Obama didn't fix your guy's fuck ups to your
satisfaction.

Bite the bullet and admit your guy screwed us all over seven ways from
Sunday and that's what gave us Donald Trump.

Guam is a territory.... I like them and they're OK Muslims.

Puerto Rico is a territory that they are discussing making a State
because they're BANKRUPT, and I like those Latinos. You know we owned
Mexico once, maybe we should go back and revisit that ownership and make
it the 52nd State in the Union. The Mexicans are all here anyways. The
border is like one between states where everyone comes and goes, then
we'd move the fence to the southern border of Mexico and that's a tiny
border to fence-off. And the bonus is that all those factories that
moved to Mexico would belong to the USA and the IRS and the EPA once again.

*We'd have our jobs back* Without the cost of moving them again. Trump
should suggest it as a solution to the wall and the jobs... reclaim
Mexico that we owned for a short time after the Mexican American war and
propose Statehood. What the government giveth the government can taketh
away.

If we are going to claim their citizens as U.S. citizens then it's not a
leap to claim their government as part of the U.S, Government. It's
obvious that the Mexican government doesn't mind their citizens being
American citizens.

Because Iraq was already calming down.... It is fascinating to me watching

it is all Bushs fault.
Iraq was calming down because we were pumping tens of billions in
taxpayer dollars into the pockets of the tribes to keep them from
attacking us. This is known as "bribery". Iow, we paid them to not
attack us anymore. That is the real reason "The Surge" was working.

They knew we were leaving. Bush had announced his timetable. So they
just sat back, picked up their US govt welfare payments and waited for
us to leave. Then they spent those US taxpayer dollars going right
back to war on each other.

The mistake was in removing Hussein. He was a Sunni dictator of a
majority Shiite state in the same way Assad was the Shiite dictator of
a majority Sunni state. Those dictators no longer control their
subject populations and the civil war within Islam has erupted and is
spreading. More Muslims are killed every day by Islamic terrorists
than westerners in every terror attack since 9/11.

There is nothing we can do, no action we can take, that won't make it
worse. The only thing we can do is let this Muslim civil war play out
and try to minimize the damage to us. That includes supporting
minority Shiites (Iran, Iraq and Syrian Shiite rebels) against
majority Sunnis (everybody else) so we don't end up with a global
Sunni Arab majority in control of the entire region ready to turn on
the west. We have to make sure they kill each other off.

This is going to take a long time and great subtlety.

The damage in Iraq that led to ISIS was done long before Obama was even in
office.
The Jon Stewart proclaimed Jedi sure let it go down the tubes....
Dunno what that is but I do know that the Bush administration badly
mismanaged the post invasion and created the very opposite effect of
what he claimed he intended. He turned Iraq and the Arab world into a
hotbed of terrorism.

have stopped ISIS from taking over in Syria? Spreading to other
countries? Or should we have conquered and permanently occupied those
as well? How much would all of that cost?

Tell me, how many Muslim countries likely to sponsor terrorism against
the west need to be invaded and occupied permanently in order to make
Islamic Radical Terrorism a thing of the past?

And how much should we cut taxes to "stimulate" revenues so we could
pay for it without adding more debt to the pile?

He certainly didn't do anything to stop the rise of
ISIS, for sure, but
he has droned key militant leadership in Pakistan...
His actions are confusing to say the least.
Why are you confused? He seems consistent to me.
What do you two think he should have done WRT ISIS?
It seems that Mattb is not aware of all the damage and carnage our
bombings of ISIS have caused, including the building where they stored

He certainly didn't do anything to stop the rise of
ISIS, for sure, but
he has droned key militant leadership in Pakistan...
His actions are confusing to say the least.
Why are you confused? He seems consistent to me.
What do you two think he should have done WRT ISIS?
It seems that Mattb is not aware of all the damage and carnage our
bombings of ISIS have caused, including the building where they stored
most of their money, and have lost a significant amount of the territory
they once controlled.
Gee, I wonder why he doesn't know this. If I were ignorant of something
so important I would seriously reconsider my news sources.
Well Jeanne if you actually paid attention you would have noticed he
could have done more and sooner.
Done what? What, exactly, could he have done that would have stopped
ISIS dead in it's tracks?
Post by MattB
Russia has really kicked ISIS ass.
How have they done that? Seems that most of their bombing was of the
good rebels that we're supposed to be supporting. But Assad wanted them
killed, so Russia did it for him.
And now they're gone.
Covered that below in the original post.

The rebels sadly also. Then many of Obama's rebels are also
considered terrorist.
Because they are. Strange as it sounds, we're having to work *with*
Al Qaeda and the Taliban against DAESH.

Obama's action toward Egypt when they kicked out the terrorist group
Muslim Brotherhood also shows his attitude and that I've never heard
him say Islamic terrorist. Though have seen him do so with Christians
though he did have to use examples centuries old.
You mean the Christian terrorists who have committed more acts of
terrorism and more murders than Muslim terrorists in this country for
years??
Can you provide evidence say the last 20 years?

Me thinks you lie.

That's because in order to defeat Islamic terrorism, we need the good
will of Moslems who aren't terrorists.

Sanders Slams Closed Process, Rift With Top Democrats Widens
Bernie Sanders stepped up his feud with Democratic leadership, saying
he's backing the primary opponent of Representative Debbie Wasserman
Schultz, the party's national committee chairwoman, and taking on an
"undemocratic" nominating process.
"Clearly, I favor her opponent. His views are much closer to mine than
Ms. Wasserman Schultz's," the Vermont senator said in an interview
with CNN on Sunday. Sanders added he wouldn't reappoint the
congresswoman to head the committee if he's elected president in
November.

Liberals were laughing at the Republicans and now look who's laughing....
Trump and Hillary almost ties in the polls. The polls show Sanders
would beat Trump. This is one messed up election.
Who the hell is paying attention to general election polls now?

Doesn't matter.

As long as he hasn't dropped out, the Democratic votes are split.

When he does, Hillary will get the same kind of poll bump (likely bigger)
that Trump got when Cruz dropped out.

As for now, general election polls are just a sideshow from a media industry
desperate to portray the election as a horserace.

There are plenty on both sides who'll either stay home or not vote the
Pres ballot. Not that they'll win, but the libertarians are on the
ballot in all 50 states and so should provide an alternate box for
those who don't like or trust Clinton or Trump. Which, apparently, is
a lot of voters!

Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s,” the Vermont senator said in an interview
with CNN on Sunday. Sanders added he wouldn’t reappoint the
congresswoman to head the committee if he’s elected president in
November.

This is getting interesting.
Liberals were laughing at the Republicans and now look who's laughing....
Trump and Hillary almost ties in the polls. The polls show Sanders
would beat Trump. This is one messed up election.
The media wants a horse race for several reasons, one is they can keep
viewers watching, the other is that if they keep it close in teh polls
they figure the Democrats can steal it.
